Commenting and Anti-Rant Policy

Informify encourages dialogue between our readers in an atmosphere of respect and trust.

To facilitate this, we ask you follow the guidelines below.

What we want

• Keep your comments thoughtful and constructive.
• Share only comments relevant to the day’s designated discussion story.
• Stay focused on your personal experience or connection to the story.
• Do not rant. Be brief and to the point.
• Respond with respect to others’ comments, even if you disagree.
• Limit your number of posts so others have a chance to comment, too.

What we DON’T want

We do not tolerate the following on the Informify website:

• Defamatory comments intended to destroy someone’s reputation.
• Racist, sexist, homophobic, ageist or other hateful comments that target a specific group of people.
• Plagiarized material you have copied without crediting the original writer and claimed as your own.
• Harassment or abuse of other readers.
• Threatening, intimidating or violent comments.
• Obscene or sexually oriented comments.
• Swear words that might offend or distress our younger readers.
• Spamming or posting of the same message more than once.
• Personal information that reveals where you live, work, go to school, etc.
• Advertising or promotion of products, services or websites.
• Impersonating someone you’re not, whether a real person or fictional one.
• Inappropriate or vulgar usernames. If you prefer not to have your first name included with your post, just use an initial.

What we do with your posts

Please be aware that we moderate the comment section of the Informify website. In other words, we will read your comments before publishing them to our site. If we find your post violates any of the guidelines above, we will not publish it, nor will we take the time to explain why. Repeat offenders may be blacklisted.

Also be aware that we may edit your comments for length, clarity and appropriateness. If so, we strive to preserve the spirit and voice of your post.

What rights you grant us when you post

Although you own the copyright to your posts, by posting your comments to the Informify website, you grant Informify a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive sublicenseable right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, play, and exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to any such work worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any media now known or later developed for the full term of any rights that may exist in such content, consistent with privacy restrictions set forth in Informify’s Privacy Policy. If you do not wish to grant such rights to Informify, please do not submit your contributions to this site.
